BCL leader stabbed to death in Narail
Criminals stabbed a former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) to death allegedly over previous enmity in Narail's Lohagara upazila on Friday.
The deceased, Zahirul Islam Rezwan, 30, son of late Saiful Islam of Dighalia village in the upazila, was general secretary of Dighalia union unit of BCL, Officer in Charge (OC) of Lohagara Police Station Syed Ashiqur Rahman said.
Quoting local people, police said criminals waylaid Rezwan near Dighalia Intersection while he was returning home on Friday evening and stabbed him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured.
Hearing screams, people nearby rushed to the spot, rescued critically injured Rezwan and took him to Narail Sadar Hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.
Additional police have been deployed in the area to avert any untoward situation, the OC said, adding that no case has been filed in this regard as of filing this report around 7:30pm.
