Attack on UNO Wahida: Ghoraghat OC withdrawn

The officer-in-charge (OC) of Ghoraghat Police Station has been withdrawn in connection to the vicious attack on Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Wahida Khanam on September 3.

Confirming the development to The Daily Star, Dinajpur Superintendent of Police (SP) Mohammad Anwar Hossain said OC Amirul Islam was withdrawn this morning due to "negligence in his duty".

This is the very first action against any government official taken after the attack on UNO Wahida.

UNO Wahida and her father Omar Ali were seriously injured in an attack by unidentified assailants at her official residence on September 3.

She is now under treatment at the National Institute of Neuroscience and Hospital (NINH) in Dhaka.

Rab has arrested three persons in connection with the attack who are now in seven-day remand.

Detective Branch of police in Dinajpur is now investigating the case.
