Ghoraghat UNO Wahida Khanam's father Omar Ali Sheikh has been shifted to National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Dhaka from Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH) for better treatment.
An ambulance carrying him set off for Dhaka from Rangpur around 10:00pm yesterday, reports our Dinajpur correspondent, quoting RMCH Director Dr Faridul Islam Chowdhury and the UNO's brother Sheikh Farid Uddin.
Omar Ali is paralysed from the waist down but he can talk, said hospital staff.
He does not need any surgery right now but it will take a long time for him to recover completely, said Head of RMCH Neurosurgery department Dr Tofayel Hossain Bhuiya.
Omar Ali, also a diabetic patient and a freedom fighter, suffered injuries on his neck when criminals attacked the UNO of Ghoraghat, Dinajpur at her official residence on September 3.
