Victim Amir Hossain (35), of Mymensingh's Sadar upazila, was an ASI of Brahmanbaria Sadar Model Police Station, our local correspondent reports.
Another ASI named Moni Shangkar Chakma was also stabbed by Mamun Mia, accused of three criminal cases, during the incident, said Muhammad Selim Uddin, officer-in-charge of the local police station.
Moni Shangkar is now undergoing treatment at Brahmanbaria General Hospital, the OC said.
The incident took place around 5:00pm when Amir and Moni went to arrest Mamun near a bridge at Chandpur Bazar in Sadar upazila, the OC added.
To avoid arrest, the accused stabbed Amir and Moni indiscriminately with a sharp weapon, leaving the two ASIs severely injured.
