AL lawmaker Khasru extends food aid to 5,000 families in Cumilla
Awami League Lawmaker Abdul Matin Khasru has provided food assistance to 5,000 poor families in Burichang and Brahmmanpara upazilas in Cumilla.
Khasru, also a presidium member of the ruling party, said, "I will continue to extend such support from my personal fund until the coronavirus crisis is over.
"I hope this effort will inspire other people to come forward during the crisis," he added.
The administration in Burichang and Brahmanpara upazilas today received the food assistance from former law minister Khasru and began distribution to the poor families, our local correspondent reports.
Families of 3,000 day labourers and jobless people in eight unions of Burichang will get around 3,000 bags containing five kg rice, two kg puffed rice, two kg potatoes, one kg lentil and one litre of oil, said Imrul Hasan, upazila nirbahi officer of Burichang.
Meanwhile, Brahmanpara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Fauzia Siddika said families of 2,000 jobless people in eight unions will receive 2,000 bags gradually.
