Action if allegations of irregularities made against SC admin staff: CJ
Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain has said he will take action if his office is provided with specific allegations of irregularities by any official or employee of the Supreme Court administration.
"Please, provide specific allegations against specific officials and employees. I will take proper action. None of the corrupted ones will be spared. The Supreme Court administration and the Supreme Court Bar Association [SCBA] will have to work together to this effect," he said.
The chief justice made the remarks today while addressing a virtual meeting with the judges of the Appellate Division, Attorney General Mahbubey Alam and executive members of the SCBA including its President Advocate AM Amin Uddin and Secretary Barrister Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal.
The meeting was organised by the SCBA in order to discuss the issues regarding corruption and irregularities at different offices of the SC administration and to find a way out to resolve the problems.
The SCBA leaders said the lawyers and litigants are often harassed and have to give bribes for different tasks including filing and placing cases before HC benches and receiving copies of the verdicts or orders of the SC.
They urged the chief justice to form a taskforce comprising representatives from the SC administration, attorney general's office and the SCBA in order to resolve the problems, meeting sources said.
The chief justice said the problems will be reduced once the e-filing of the cases begins.
He also said that he will transfer the bench officers of the HC as they have not been transferred in a long time.
