ACC prays to HC for issuing contempt of court rule against Ekattor TV

Anti-Corruption Commission's lawyer Khurshid Alam Khan today submitted a petition to the High Court for issuing a contempt of court rule against Ekattor TV, a private television channel, for connecting Proshanta Kumar Halder, better known as PK Halder, as a guest to a live talk show on December 28.
PK Halder, an accused in a money laundering case, is a fugitive in the eye of law as a lower court has issued an arrest warrant against him and the government and ACC are trying to arrest him through interpol, he said in the petition.
After submitting the petition, Khurshid Alam Khan told the HC bench of Justice Md Nazrul Islam Talukder and Justice Ahmed Sohel that the Ekattor TV authorities have disrespected the HC by allowing PK Halder to talk on the television programme as a guest since a rule is pending against him.
The HC bench said it will hold hearing on the petition later in the day.
On January 7, 2015, another HC bench had directed the authorities concerned to stop publishing statements of BNP leader Tarique Rahman on the media as he is a fugitive, the petitioner mentioned.
