4 arrestees confess to gang-rape and murder of 8-year old in Bogura
An eight-year old child was killed after being gang-raped allegedly over a feud her family had with another in Nasratpur village of Dhunat in Bogura.
Police arrested four people, all of them residents of the village, in this connection.
The arrestees are: Bappi Ahmed (22), Kamal Pasha (35), Shamim Reza (22), and Lablu Sheikh (21).
According to police, Bappi had a grudge against the girl's family. He planned to kill the minor to take revenge and planned the murder with the help of his friends.
The victim's father filed a case in this connection after the body was recovered.
Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan, superintendent of police (SP) in Bogura, said the four accused were volunteers at a waz mahfil that the child had attended with her grandparents and aunts.
At one point she went to a shop with other children, from where Bappi took her to Haji Kazem Jubeda Technical College. He and the others then raped the child, and Bappi strangled her to death. The body was then disfigured to make it look like a victim of wild animals, the SP said quoting case statement.
Gaziur Rahman, additional superintendent of police (Sherpur Circle), said police conducted a drive and arrested the accused from their residences. They later confessed to the murder and gang-rape during primary interrogation, the official added.
Police produced the arrestees before a Bogura court with an eight-day remand prayer for each.
