3 including garment workers killed in Habiganj road accident

Three people including two garment workers were killed and three others injured as a bus hit a rented car on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Habiganj district this morning.

Among the deceased, the garment workers  -- Shahida (35) and Maleka (22) -- were from Dashghar village in Bishambharpur upazila of Sunamganj while the identity of the car driver could not be known immediately.

The accident happened at Abdanarayan in Bahubal upazila around 6:00am, reports our Moulvibazar correspondent quoting police.

Toufiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Shayestaganj Highway Police Station, said six persons including the two garment workers hired the car for going to Sunamganj to celebrate Eid.

The injured were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital in critical condition, the police officer said.

Police seized the bus but could not arrest the driver, he added.
