The bodies of three tourists who went missing in the Bay of Bengal yesterday, were recovered from Banshbaria beach under Sitakunda of Chittagong today.

The deceased are Saiful Islam, 24, son of Md Kuddus of Mirsharai upazila in Chittagong; and Md Alauddin, 20, son of Tajul Islam; and Md Yasir, 18, son of Md Shahjahan; of Chandpur.

Divers recovered the bodies between 1:00pm to 1:30pm, our local correspondent reports quoting Wasi Azad, station manager at Sitakunda Fire Station.

The three went missing in the Bay of Bengal while a group of around 22 youths went to visit Banshbaria Sea beach point at Sitakunda yesterday afternoon.

Saiful and Kuddus were employees of Chittagong City Corporation while Yasir was a worker at a printing press in the port city, the station manager informed.

Quoting the witnesses, the officer said the group came to visit the sea beach on the weekend and went on swimming during high tide when the youths went missing.

On June 21, two youths – Shafayet Hossain Raz and Nazmul Hasan Emon -- went missing in the same area and their bodies were recovered on the following day.

After the incident, local administration put a signboard at the spot asking visitors to avoid the place, Tarikul Alam, upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) of Sitakunda, told The Daily Star yesterday.
