Eight die with Covid-19 like symptoms in Cumilla, Satkhira
Eight people died with Covid-19 like symptoms in Cumilla and Satkhira districts in the last 24 hours.
Of them, five patients, aged between 40-90 years, died at Cumilla Medical College Hospital and three others died at the isolation unit of Satkhira Medical College Hospital, our local correspondents reported.
In Cumilla, two of the deceased -- Abdul Halim (68) and Tipu Sultan (46) -- died while undergoing treatment at Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Cumilla Medical College Hospital over 24 hours till 8:00am today.
Meanwhile, three patients -- Nurjahan (80), Mosharraf Hossain (53), and Nurujjaman (88) -- died at the hospital's isolation unit during the same period.
All five patients had been suffering from fever, cough and breathing shortness, confirmed Dr Istiaque, assistant surgeon at the hospital.
Samples of the dead have been collected and sent to the hospital lab for Covid-19 test, he said.
In Satkhira, three people – Rahmatullah (95), Amena Khatun (40) and Kahinur Begum (60) -- died at Satkhira Medical College Hospital within 24 hours since 6:00pm yesterday.
Rahmatullah and Amena Khatun died at isolation unit while Kahinur died at ICU, our correspondent reports quoting Dr Manas Kumar Mondol, a medicine specialist of the hospital.
Samples of the deceased have been collected for coronavirus test, the physician said.
Jayanta Sarker, a doctor of Satkhira civil surgeon's office, said that they have requested to follow health guidelines during the burial of the bodies.
