Wasa approves proposal to extend MD Taqsem Khan’s tenure by 3 more years
Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) board members today approved a proposal to extend by three more years the tenure of Taqsem A Khan, the present managing director of Dhaka Wasa.
Taqsem had previously made headlines over controversies and intense criticism regarding the quality of civic service provided by the Wasa.
The Dhaka Wasa board came up with the approval at its 97th special meeting held virtually today.
The special meeting's topic of discussion was to send a proposal to the Local Government Division regarding the appointment of Taqsem A Khan as Wasa MD for the next three years, according to a notice issued by Wasa on September 17.
Talking to The Daily Star, Dr Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin, who presided over the board meeting, said they will send a proposal to the respective ministry for the final approval.
Mohiuddin, also president of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) and a former MP of ruling Awami League, said he hoped that their board's proposal will be approved by the respective ministry.
Taqsem was appointed as MD in 2009 and has been serving in the post for five consecutive terms over the last 11 years. His current term will expire on October 14 this year.
