Tongi factory worker, critically burnt while melting iron, dies

One of the five workers, who sustained severe burns while melting iron at a steel mill factory in Gazipur's Tongi area early Friday, died at hospital this morning.

Dulal (45) breathed his last around 11:30am while receiving treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, its Resident Surgeon Partha Sanker Paul said.

The condition of four others is still critical, hospital sources said.

They are: Mozammel (22), Niloy (25), Ripon (30) and Azahar (26).

The five workers wereburnt after melted iron fell on them around 4:00am at SS Steel Mills Limited in Tongi.
