Three killed in road accidents
Three people were killed in two separate road accidents in the last two days.
In Lalmonirhat, two people were killed and four were critically injured after a three-wheeler hit a loaded truck from India at Burimari land port area on Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway in Patgram upazila on Sunday night.
One of the deceased was identified as Aynal Haque (35). The other’s identity could not be confirmed yet, Patgram police told our Lalmonirhat correspondent.
The accident occurred when the three-wheeler hit the parked truck around 11pm. The truck came from India and was loaded with imported stones. Of the deceased, one died on the spot while the other died on the way to hospital, Patgram Police Station OC Sumon Kumar Mohanta said quoting locals.
The injured were taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, OC Sumon added.
In Bagerhat, Juba Dal leader Rakibul Islam Rakib (37) was killed in a motorbike-truck collision at Digraj bazar area of Khulna-Mongla highway yesterday afternoon, reports our Bagerhat correspondent.
Critically injured in the collision, Rakibul was rushed to Mongla Port Hospital, where duty doctors pronounced him dead, said OC of Mongla Police Station Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury.
His body will be handed over to family members upon completion of legal procedures, he added.
