Submit probe report by Feb 11: court to police
A Dhaka court yesterday asked police to submit by February 11 the probe report of the case filed against Fardin Iftekhar Dihan over the rape and murder of an English medium school student in Dhaka's Kalabagan area.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Yeasmin Ara passed the order after Investigation Officer AFM Asaduzzaman, also an inspector of Kalabagan Police Station, submitted an application seeking 30 more working days to complete the probe.
In the application, the IO said he was trying to complete the probe within a short time. But he needed more time to complete the probe now.
Earlier the same court allowed police to conduct DNA test of Fardin, DNA test of the victim's blood-stained clothes and dope test of the accused following the IO's pleas.
The girl's father filed the case with Kalabagan Police Station against Fardin under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act on January 7.
In the case statement, the complainant alleged that Fardin tricked his daughter to go to his flat at Kalabagan and raped her when his family members were not home.
Due to the rape, the victim bled profusely and was unconscious. Fardin then took her to a hospital to deflect blame, the victim's father alleged.
On January 8, Fardin gave his confessional statement to Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mamunur Rashid in the case. The magistrate then sent Fardin to jail.
