SI killed in hit-and-run at Dhaka airport area

A sub-inspector of police was killed after a vehicle hit his motorcycle in Dhaka airport area last night. 

The deceased was identified as Kamrul Islam, 33, a sub-inspector of Gulshan Police Station. 

Mashiul Alam, a sub-inspector of Airport Police Station, said Kamrul went to the airport area to investigate an incident around 11:00pm. 

At that time, a vehicle hit Kamrul's motorcycle and sped away. Kamrul was dead on the spot, the SI said. 

Police are trying to identify the vehicle through CCTV camera footages and other information, he said.  

Hailing from Sirajganj, Kamrul, father of a child, used to live in a rented flat in Gulshan area. 

The body was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
