Road accidents kill 3, injure 17
Three people were killed and 17 injured in road accidents in two districts in the last two days, according to reports from our correspondents.
Our Manikganj correspondent reports, an auto-rickshaw driver was killed and 17 were injured as a bus hit the vehicle on Hemayetpur-Singair-Manikganj regional highway at Kitingchar in Singair upazila yesterday morning.
The deceased -- Shah Alam (32), son of Dulu Bepari -- was from Angara village in Singair.
Hafizur Rahman, additional superintendent of police (crimes and administration) in Manikganj, said the Dhaka-bound bus of Shuktara Paribahan plunged into a roadside ditch around 8:45am.
The injured were admitted to different hospitals, he said.
The accident might have occurred due to dense fog, said the police official.
Our Faridpur correspondent reports, two people were killed when a Dhaka-bound fish-laden truck hit a rickshaw on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Mandartala in Sadar upazila of Gopalganj on Monday night.
The deceased were identified as Riajul Sheikh (17), son of Babul Sheikh from Parkusheli village in the upazila; and Sujan Gazi (30), son of Lal Gazi from Katabunia in Moralganj, Bagerhat.
They were in the rickshaw, said police.
Quoting locals. Md Monirul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said, "The rickshaw overturned following the accident."
