Raise awareness at schools in border districts: HC to BGB
The High Court yesterday directed Boarder Guard of Bangladesh (BGB) to enforce awareness-building programmes at schools in bordering areas, in order to prevent children and juveniles from being involved in crimes of drugs and smuggling.
The HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman came up with the order while hearing a bail petition in a case where a minor was implicated on charges of stealing buffalo in Sylhet.
Nayeb Subedar Md Shahab Uddin of Sylhet's Jaintapur BGB camp appeared before the HC bench and offered unconstitutional apology for implicating a fourth-grader in a cattle theft case showing him 19 years old.
The HC also exempted the accused minor, who was also present before the bench. On September 20, the bench summoned Shahab Uddin, for implicating the boy.
On that day, the HC also asked the boy to be present in court yesterday .
