Phones, gold worth Tk 2 crore seized at Dhaka airport

Airport Armed Police (AAP) detained five passengers and seized gold ornaments and bars of 2.675 kg and 92 mobile phones at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport today.
The market price of the goods is estimated to be around Tk 2 crore.
The AAP members caught the five passengers with the gold and mobile phones while they were crossing customs.
"They recovered gold ornaments, bars, and 92 mobile sets from the five passengers," said Md Alamgir Hossain, additional superintendent of police at AAP.
The detainees were identified as Amir Hussain, 50, Mahbub Rahman, 35, Abdur Rahman Sarkar, 46, Zakir Hussain, 30, and Abdur Rahman, 38.
They arrived at the airport from Dubai on an Emirates flight around 5:00am, sources said.
