Mujibur Rahman DIlu no more
Mujibur Rahman Dilu, a freedom fighter and actor, passed away at the capital's United Hospital early yesterday.
He had been suffering from multiple health problems, including lung infection and pneumonia, said his son Ayon Rahman.
Dilu, who has been away from the limelight for a while, fell critically ill on January 12 and was admitted to the ICU at United Hospital on January 15. Earlier in 2005, he was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome and fell into a coma.
Dilu, a television and stage actor, director, theatre activist and playwright, was lauded for his performance as "Malu" in the hit television series, "Songsoptok".
His notable plays include "Tathapi" and "Somoy Asomoy", among others.
The actor's first namaz-e-janaza took place at Central Mosque, Dhaka University, said his son.
His body was kept at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy from 3pm to 4pm. Then, he was honoured with a ceremonial guard and buried following the second janaza at Banani graveyard after Asr prayers.
