Awami League Chittagong city unit President Mohiuddin Chowdhury yesterday said, with green signal from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and backing from Nagorik Committee, he would again contest for the post of Chittagong City Corporation mayor.

He urged his followers, some of whom on several hundred different vehicles arrived to receive him at Shah Amanat International Airport on his return from Saudi Arabia, to campaign for him. Mohiuddin had earlier been elected three times, in 1994, 2000 and 2005. In 2010, he was defeated by M Majur Alam.
