Member of medical certificate forgery gang held
Rapid Action Battalion today detained a member of medical certificates forgery gang from Dhaka Nursing College.
The detainee, Ariful Islam, a fourth-class employee of Dhaka Medical College Hospital admitted that he has been forging death and injury certificates for the last two to three years, said Major Md Jahangir Alam of Rab-3.
The Rab members led by Major Jahangir conducted a four-hour long drive from 12noon and detained Ariful with a lot of fake certificates and doctors’ seals from a room at the nursing college.
Ariful’s gang consists of four to five people including a doctor of DMCH, the Rab official said quoting Ariful.
“Multiple gangs have been making fake certificates for the last 20-30 years. We have been receiving a lot of queries regarding the authenticity of such certificates from the courts in the past years,” said Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin, director of DMCH.
DMCH authority has filed a case with Shahbagh Police Station against Ariful, the director also said.
“We are looking for the other members of the gang and other people involved in such activities,” Major Md Jahangir Alam said.
