Maqsood Ali passes away
Sheikh Maqsood Ali, former CSP doctor of 1959 batch, passed away at United Hospital in the capital yesterday. He was 85, says a press release.
He was deputy director of Civil Service Academy in Lahore before Bangladesh’s independence. He was a Liberation War organiser while he was conducting research for PhD in the UK.
After independence, he joined the civil aviation ministry as joint secretary in 1972. Besides, he served as secretary to the relief and rehabilitation ministry and member of Planning Commission.
He wrote in local and international journals and published several books including “From East Bengal to Bangladesh” in 2009. He obtained master’s in economics from Dhaka University in 1956.
