Man shot, robbed of Tk 5.70 lakh in Savar
Unidentified criminals shot a man and snatched Tk 5.7 lakh from him in broad daylight at Savar's Bhakurta area near Turag bridge yesterday.
Victim Amanullah (40) was admitted to Savar Upazila Health Complex with a bullet wound on his left leg.
His wife Shuma told The Daily Star that a gang of ten people on five motorcycles stopped their taxi near a police check-post at Bhakurta at 11am. The couple were on their way home after withdrawing Tk 5.7 lakh from the bank.
"The gang fired around five rounds of bullets at our car, and my husband was wounded. They snatched the money from us and fled," said Shuma. She claimed the gang members were present at the bank when they were withdrawing money.
Contacted, Saiful Islam, inspector (investigation) of Savar Model Police Station, said they were informed about the incident and are looking into the matter.
