Man held with 2,905 yaba tablets at Dhaka airport

Armed Police Battalion today detained a man and recovered around 2,905 yaba tablets kept hidden inside his stomach at the domestic terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

The detainee Shaheen, 25, is a resident of Helibania village of Barguna Sadar Upazila, Alamgir Hossain, additional superintendent (Operation and media) of the police battalion said.

Following his suspicious movement in the car parking area of the airport, a team of the police battalion first challenged Shaheen and at one point they detained him around 10:00 pm, the police official said.  

Later, around 2,905 Yaba pills worth Tk 14 lakh from his stomach, he said.

Shaheen, during primary interrogation, confessed that one Selim of Balukhali in Cox’s Bazar gave the Yaba pills to him to reach those Dhaka, he said.

One Habib of Gazipur’s Tongi area appointed Shaheen to bring the Yaba pills, said the police official.
