Livestock ministry to take measures to stop smuggling of animals
The Ministry of Fisheries and livestock yesterday decided to take strict steps to stop smuggling of sacrificial animals from India.
The ministry also took initiative to stop smuggling of harmful steroid and hormone-type medicines to ensure sacrificial animals are healthy and safe.
The ministry took the decision following an inter-ministerial meeting held on July 9, which decided on measures to ensure healthy animals during the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha at its office yesterday.
The ministry on July 13 issued letters to the Cabinet Division and Public Security Department following the decision, requesting them to take necessary steps in this regard, said a press release.
The Cabinet Division has been asked to take necessary steps so that district administrations in border areas conduct mobile courts to stop smuggling of sacrificial animals and stopping use of fake money. The Public Security Department has been requested to run mobile courts through BGB and Bangladesh Police to stop smuggling of animals before Eid.
The ministry in another letter to the public security department asked them to ensure security of customers and traders and stop harassment relating to online sale.
