Journos worried over death threat to peer
Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) and Crime Reporters’ Association Bangladesh (CRAB) have expressed concerns over alleged death threats to Rafiq Majumder, senior reporter of online news portal Jagonews24, for publishing a news.
DRU president Ilias Hossain and general secretary Kabir Ahmed Khan in a joint statement demanded that law enforcers identify the perpetrators and bring them to book.
CRAB president Abul Khair and general secretary Dipu Sarwar in another joint statement said harassment of and death threat to Rafiq are tantamount to violation of freedom of expression.
The leaders said the report was published maintaining journalistic ethics. Statements of all concerned were incorporated in the news, they added.
Jagonews24.com on November 18 published a news titled “Pilot Ishrat gave illicit proposal to a cabin crew after taking her to cockpit”.
After the report was published, Rafiq has been receiving such threats, he alleged.
