Four fined Tk 65 lakh for violating building codes
The Barisal City Corporation authorities have fined four people Tk 64,97,280 in total for constructing multi-storey residential and commercial buildings in violation of BCC plan.
The individuals were given letters to deposit the amount within the next seven working days, confirmed Belayet Hossain Bablu, in-charge of BCC's Public Relations Department, yesterday.
On information that the four were erecting high-rises violating building codes, BCC summoned them to its office on Wednesday, said Belayet.
During the hearing, they were fined as they could not show documents relating to BCC approval, the official said.
Aziz Rahim of MA Jalil Road was fined Tk 25,45,712 for constructing a 14-storey residential and commercial building in Nobogram Road area; Rejin-ul-Kabir was fined Tk 11,83,952 for erecting a 10-storey residential building in the same area; Tk 4,8,992 fine was imposed on Bidhan Majumdar from Kalish Chandra Road area for constructing a 9-storey residential building; and Tk 22,80,724 was fined to Md Abdul Hai for erecting a 15-storey residential and commercial building in C&B Road area.
