Ex-MP Samsuddin Ahmed passes away
Samsuddin Ahmed, former lawmaker from Manikganj-2 constituency, died at a Dhaka hospital early yesterday, at the age of 75.
Samsuddin was admitted to United Hospital on December 1 as he tested Covid-19 positive. He was undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospital and breathed his last there around 1:15am yesterday, said his youngest son Shahabuddin Chanchal.
He was buried in Bhelabad graveyard after a namaz-e-janaza on Patgram Anathbandhu School ground in Harirampur upazila of the district after the Asr prayers.
Different political leaders and people from all walks of life joined the janaza.
Samsuddin Ahmed was elected MP as an independent candidate in 2001. He later joined Awami League. Most recently, he was a member of Manikganj district AL advisory council. From 1985 to 1990, he was Harirampur Upazila Parishad chairman. Earlier, he was chairman of Harukandi Union Parishad.
Samsuddin was born in 1945 at Mirzaganj in Harirampur, Manikganj. He obtained his master's degree from then Jagannath College (now Jagannath University).
