DSCC will be free of overhead cables by December: Taposh
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh today said all areas under the city corporation will be free of overhead cables by this December.
"When we go abroad, there is no obstacle to see the sky but upon return, we only see [cable] garbage overhead…So, DSCC has taken initiatives to clean up all this mess by December," he said.
Taposh was talking to reporters after attending a governing body meeting at Dhaka Mohanagor Mohila College, said a press release.
All the cables of government as well as private organisations and internet service providers will be removed in phases, he said.
"The work of removing waste from roads and open spaces have already been undertaken," he said.
Saying that there will be no more waste in open spaces, the mayor urged city dwellers not to litter indiscriminately.
"Keep the waste in your house and later on hand over all the waste to the primary waste collection service providers," he said.
"If anyone throws waste on the street or in the open, we will be compelled to take legal action," he said.
