Dr Shahadat shown arrested in 2 more cases
BNP nominated aspirant for Chattogram-9 constituency Dr Shahadat Hossain was shown arrested in two cases filed with Panchlaish and Bayezid Police Stations in the port city in November.
Metropolitan Magistrates Khairul Amin and Safi Uddin passed separate orders after police produced the BNP leader before the courts, said Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) (Prosecution) Nirmalendu Bikash Chawkrabarty of CMP.
The courts rejected his bail prayers and sent him to jail, said Advocate Kamrul Islam Sazzad, lawyer of Dr Shahadat, also the president of BNP's Chattogram city unit.
With these two, Dr Shahadat is now shown arrested in 11 cases, the lawyer added.
Meanwhile, another Chattogram court rejected remand prayers against the BNP leader in two cases filed with Kotwali and Sadarghat Police Stations.
Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Mohiuddin Murad rejected the petitions by Kotwali and Sadarghat police seeking seven-day remand each for two cases filed with the respective police stations, Advocate Sazzad said.
On November 7, detectives arrested the BNP leader in Dhaka.
