DNCC combing operation: Aedes larvae found in 87 houses, establishments
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) today found Aedes mosquito larvae in 87 houses and establishments during the first day of a combing operation to destroy breeding grounds of the mosquitoes.
During the operation, DNCC mobile court also fined owners of 20 houses and establishments around Tk 1.28 lakh for having larvae and warned owners of other houses.
The 10-day combing operation began at all 54 wards under the city corporation area simultaneously to protect the city dwellers from the mosquito menace, said a press release of the DNCC.
The DNCC team visited at least 12,736 houses and establishments during the drive, according to the press release.
Besides, stagnant water and breeding ground of Aedes mosquito were found at 7,301 establishments including houses and under construction buildings in the city area.
The 10-day operation will continue from 10:00am to 12:30pm every day except August 11, 14 and 15, dividing a ward into ten sectors and a sector into 10 sub-sectors.
The larvae of Aedes mosquito were found in abandoned tyres, buckets, flower tubs, bottles, water-meters, garages, water-tanks, plastic containers, abandoned commodes, coconut shells, broken pots, basement and space between two houses, said an official of DNCC.
