Death of Teenage Cousins: Two held in Rangpur
Police yesterday detained two persons in connection with the deaths of two teenage cousins in Rangpur.
Mahfuzar Rahman Rifat and Arifur Raman were being interrogated, said Uttam Proshad Pathak, deputy commissioner of the Detective Branch of Rangpur Metropolitan Police.
The two teenagers -- Somaiya Akter Meem (16) and Zannatun Mawa (14) -- daughters of Moksedul Islam and Mominul Islam respectively -- were found dead at their home in Rangpur city's Goneshpur on Friday.
Following the incident, Mominul Islam filed a murder case with Kotwali Police Station yesterday.
Nobody was at home during the incident, said police.
Locals informed police after they had noticed Meem's body hanging from a ceiling fan.
Abdur Rashid, officer-in-charge of the police station, had said they found Zannatun's body on the floor.
Police found blood on the noses of the deceased. There were also bruise marks around both their necks.
The law enforcers on Friday afternoon sent the bodies to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsies.
