CMC teacher dies of Covid-19
A teacher of Chattogram Medical College died of Covid-19 at CMCH last night.
Dr Nazrul Islam Chowdhury Taslim, an associate professor of the orthopaedics department of CMCH, was admitted at ICU on Friday with fever, coughing and breathing difficulties, said Dr Faisal Iqbal Chowdhury, general secretary of Bangladesh Medical Association, Chattogram chapter.
He was also suffering from cancer.
He died around 10:00pm on Sunday, Dr Faisal added.
His specimen was collected and sent for coronavirus testing and the report was received on Sunday evening, which showed that he was positive, said Dr Faisal.
His namaz-e-janaja was held at CMCH Central Jame Mosque this morning and his body was taken to his village home at Chatkhil of Noakhali for burial, said Prof Shamim Hasan, principal of CMC.
Meanwhile, another associate professor and head of Orthopaedics Department of CMCH Dr Samirul Islam died of Covid-19 at CMCH on June 26.
