Army chief honours gallantry award holders
Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed yesterday accorded reception to the gallantry award holding freedom fighters of Bangladesh Army at an event in Dhaka Cantonment, marking Armed Forces Day.
Freedom fighters, who played a vital role during the Liberation War and their successors were also awarded reception at the programme, said an ISPR press release. A total of 75 freedom fighters and their successors were awarded reception.
In his speech, the army chief paid rich tributes to the gallantry award holders.
He said the nation will never forget their sacrifices.
Senior army officers were present on the occasion.
After the programme, General Ahmed told reporters that the work of erecting barbed-wire fence at Rohingya camp in Cox’s Bazar has started. In the first phase, the fence would be erected around Kutupalong and Nayapara Rohingya camps.
He also mentioned that the government has approved construction of 287km road along Bangladesh-Myanmar frontiers.
