Amanul Islam Chy no more
AKM Amanul Islam Choudhury, former adviser to a caretaker government, died from coronavirus at a hospital in Dhaka yesterday. He was 83.
He breathed his last at Uttara Crescent Hospital at 1pm, says a press release.
He served as communications, power, energy, water and mineral resources adviser in 2001.
Brother of prominent educationist and intellectual Professor Emeritus Serajul Islam Choudhury, Amanul stood first in first division from electrical engineering department at Ahsanullah Engineering College in 1952. He also obtained first position from engineering in the public service commission exam in the then undivided Pakistan.
He served as additional director general of Bangladesh Railway, port trust chairman and chairman of DESA. He retired as additional secretary.
Amanul Islam was born in 1934 in Baroikhali village in Sreenagar, Bikrampur.
