JP MP Maidul Islam to be buried today
Jatiya Party lawmaker AKM Maidul Islam Mukul who died on Thursday will be buried today at Banani graveyard in the capital. He was 73.
He left behind a son and a daughter and a host of relatives, admirers and well-wishers to mourn his death.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at Ulipur Eidgah Maidan in Kurigram at 11:00am today. His body will be brought to Dhaka where his second janaza will be held before his burial.
Elected from Kurigram-3, Maidul Islam, also a former minister, had been suffering from diabetes and lung complication for long.
He was admitted in the hospital on April 22 where he breathed his last on Thursday night, said family sources.
Born on May 29, 1940, Maidul was elected first as an MP in 1979 and served as minister for various ministries including Postal, Telephone and Communication. Then he was elected thrice in the national parliament elections.
His father Abul Kasem was deputy speaker of the national parliament of Pakistan.
