Gulshan, Niketan, Baridhara get 100 CCTV cameras
A total of 100 cameras have been installed in the three neighbourhoods at Gulshan, Baridhara and Niketan; the Gulshan 1, Gulshan 2 and Baridhara roundabouts; two city corporation markets in Gulshan and the Gulshan-Banani bridge in the capital to contain crimes. Three societies of house owners including those of Baridhara and Niketan and Youth Club, all under Gulshan Police Station, mobilised funds and community support for the surveillance system, inaugurated yesterday and to be maintained and operated by Dhaka Metropolitan Police. A total of 100 closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras were installed in the capital's Guslhan, Baridhara and Niketan yesterday with an aim to tighten surveillance in the neighbourhoods.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police will maintain the cameras, bought with funds from different businesses and organisations and at the initiative of Gulshan Society, Baridhara Society, Niketan Society, and Gulshan Youth Club.

Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque, DMP Commissioner Md Asaduzzaman Mia, President of Gulshan Society ATM Shamsul Huda, Dhaka north's Mayor Annisul Huq, local lawmaker AKM Rahmatullah, and Director General of Rapid Action Battalion Benazir Ahmed were present on the occasion.
