DU students condemn BCL attack on quota reformists

Students of Dhaka University today condemned Bangladesh Chhatra League’s attack on quota reformists at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka yesterday.

The students under the under the banner ‘Students against Repression’ formed a human chain at the foot of Raju Sculpture near Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) around noon.

“The students seeking govt job quota system reform have a just demand and throughout history just demands have faced obstacles,” said Umme Habiba, president of the platform.

“But, we urge everyone not to backtrack but continue the movement against quota in civil service,” said Umme Habiba.

The students held the protest programme a day after at least 13 people were injured in the BCL-led attack on quota reformists -- six at Dhaka University and seven at Rajshahi University.  

Meanwhile, another group of students under the banner of ‘General students’ formed separate human chain at the Dhaka University campus today.
