1 more Pallabi water tank blast victim succumbs

Another injured victim of Tuesday’s Pallabi water tank blast succumbed today while undergoing treatment, taking the tally of casualties in the incident to two.

Hosena Ara, 60, passed away around 7:00am at the ICU of Dhaka Medical College Hospital, Dr Partha Shankar Paul, a resident surgeon at the hospital’s burn unit, told The Daily Star.

She suffered more than 90% burns, the doctor added.

On Tuesday, the blast at a water tank at the ground floor of the six-storied building in Pallabi-12, Dhaka, burned five people, including three of a family.

Yesterday, Ruhi, a three-year-old girl, who was among the five with burn injuries, died at DMCH.

Ruhi’s mother Yeasmin, 30, a tenant, Hasan, 28, another tenant, and landlord Yakub Ali Khan, 70, are also undergoing treatment at the hospital and their condition is said to be critical.
