Mahtab Uddin, Hasnain Thoufiq made president, secretary of ICMAB

Mahtab Uddin Ahmed has been elected president of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) for a one-year term.

Ahmed is the founder of BuildCon Consultancies Limited and BuildNations Limited, according to a press release.

He previously served as managing director and CEO of Robi Axiata Ltd, where he achieved significant milestones in leadership and corporate success.

Ahmed obtained his honours and master's degrees in accounting from the University of Dhaka. He is also an alumnus of Harvard Business School and IMB Switzerland.

However, Md Kausar Alam, the group chief financial officer and company secretary of Seven Rings Cement Bangladesh Ltd, and Abdul Matin Patwary, the chief financial officer at Dhaka Stock Exchange Limited, were elected as vice-presidents of the ICMAB.

Alam is also a director of Janata Bank PLC. He brings a wealth of experience to his new role as vice-president. Prior to this, he served as the secretary of ICMAB.

On the other hand, Patwary previously worked as the finance director of BASF Bangladesh Ltd. Before being elected vice-president, he held the position of treasurer at ICMAB, showcasing his financial expertise and leadership skills.

Additionally, Hasnain Thoufiq Ahmed, group business CEO of Rahimafrooz Group, was elected secretary, and Md Maksudur Rahman, chief executive officer of EDISON Logistics Ltd, will serve as treasurer.

Thoufiq Ahmed has a proven track record in strategic leadership, transformation, performance management, and innovation, having worked in renowned MNCs like Nestlé, British American Tobacco, Grameenphone, Unilever, and Banglalink.

Rahman has more than 20 years of experience in Grameenphone, Warid Telecom, Airtel Bangladesh, Jubok Phone, and Edison Group, in various leadership positions.
