Labour ministry forms panel to investigate Hashem Foods’ fire incident
The labour ministry today formed a six-member panel to find out the causes of death and injury of workers at the factory fire incident of Hashem Foods at Rupganj in Narayanganj on July 8.
The committee will be headed by Md Humayun Kabir, a joint secretary to the labour ministry, the ministry said in a statement.
"The committee will also work to find out from where the fire originated and who are responsible for it," Md Rezaul Haque, additional secretary to the labour ministry, told The Daily Star.
The committee will submit its inquiry report to the authorities concerned within the next 10 days, according to the statement.
Some 52 workers died in the devastating fire incident at Hashem Foods Ltd, which was involved in production of different processed foods, including fruit drink and biscuit.
