Individual investors can now buy govt bond through DSE debt board
The Dhaka Stock Exchange today launched debt securities board, which will allow everyone, including individual investors, to buy government bond from the capital market.
Earlier, only institutional investors could buy the bonds through bank and maintain a depository participant account.
Now, any investors can trade the bonds through their beneficiary owners (BO) account.
Shaikh Shamsuddin Ahmed, a commissioner of Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, launched the board in an online event.
It is a historical moment for the Bangladesh stock market, Ahmed said after the launch as the chief guest.
"We are trying to bring product diversity in the market and the government bond trading would be a big example of that."
