Govt bans foreign travel of public sector employees
The government today restricted foreign travels of all public sector employees until further notice, a development that comes amid falling foreign exchange reserves.
The bar on foreign tours will also be applicable for officials of state-owned enterprises and autonomous bodies at the own fund of these enterprises, according to a circular by the finance ministry.
However, public officials will be able to go abroad for education, training and workshop if expenses are borne by development partners and governments of other countries, it added.
However, taking permission from the government will be necessary.
The government in September restricted foreign travels on limited scale.
