The control room headed by a deputy director at the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE), will remain open from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm every day, the ministry said in a press release.

The agriculture minister took the initiative to open the control room at a time when farmers from many parts of the country were complaining that they were not getting fertilisers at the stipulated price due to irregularities of dealers and middlemen.

Agriculture ministry said there is no shortage of fertilisers in the country and the current stock of fertilisers is higher than the same period last year.

As of August 25, the stock of urea fertiliser was 6.56 lakh tonnes while Triple superphosphate (TSP) 3.94 lakh tonnes, Diammonium phosphate (DAP) 8.23 lakh tonnes and Muriate of Potash (MOP) was 2.73 lakh tonnes, said the ministry.

Agriculture ministry said demand for fertilisers during the Aman season (August-October) is 6.19 lakh tonnes of urea. The requirement for TSP would be 1.19 lakh tonnes, DAP 2.25 lakh tonnes and MOP would be 1.37 lakh tonnes.
