Build legal basis before forming new industrial policy: FBCCI standing committee
The government is going to formulate the National Industrial Policy 2021 whereas the existing one could not be implemented properly due to a lack of legal basis, said the FBCCI's standing committee on industry and industrial policy today.
There is a need to have a legal basis now for the upcoming policy, it recommended.
The committee of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) made the call at its first meeting at the FBCCI office.
The services sector contributes more than 50 per cent to the economy, but the draft industrial policy does not properly address this sector, said Shamim Ahmed, chairman of the standing committee and president of the Bangladesh Plastic Goods Manufacturers and Exporters Association.
Although public-private partnership plays an important role in the development of the economy, it is not mentioned in the industrial policy, he added
Among others, the meeting was attended by Md Abdur Razzak and Asif Ibrahim, co-chairmen of the standing committee.
