BFIU seeks loan info about SBAC Bank chair

LC rules for lubricant, engine oil import

The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has asked banks to furnish it with loan information of South Bangla Agriculture and Commerce Bank Chairman Abdul Kadir Molla.

The agency sent a letter to several commercial banks in the first week of August after it received allegations that Kadir had secured loans breaching banking rules.

It has sought the information as part of an ongoing investigation, said a high official of the BFIU, which is dedicated to combating terrorist financing and money laundering.

The agency also asked banks to submit the details of stimulus loans and import and export data of the firms owned by Kadir.

Kadir could not be reached for comments despite repeated attempts over his mobile phone.
