176 businessmen to get CIP status
The government has selected 176 businessmen to award them with the 'Commercially Important Person' (CIP) status for their outstanding contribution on merchandise export and as a recognition to their roles in different trade bodies.
Of them, some 138 will be awarded in the export category and the rest 38 are the leaders of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI), as per the rules of the CIP (Export) of 2013, according to the gazette.
Some of the FBCCI directors are nominated directors from important chambers and associations groups.
The CIP awardees have been selected based on the export earnings, employment creation, decent working conditions, payment to the workers and employees, tax payment to the government exchequer, innovation in marketing, products technology uses, and management.
The commerce ministry has already published a gazette citing the names of the award winners and the leaders of the FBCCI, who won the status.
