Bar Council cancels advocateship written test of 5 centres
The Bangladesh Bar Council yesterday decided to cancel the written test of the advocateship candidates, held at five centres on December 19, as some of them went berserk at those centres, preventing others from taking the test and burning their answer scripts.
The five centres are: Mohammadpur Mohila College, Mohammadpur Kendriya College, BCSIR High School, Government Mohammadpur Model School and College and Dhaka Mohanagar Mohila College.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The authorities concerned of Bangladesh Bar Council on Thursday, however, decided to uphold the written test for the candidates held at four centres on the same day (December 19).
The four centres are: Azimpur Girls College, Sheikh Borhan Uddin College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardi College and Cental Women's College.
The enrolment committee of Bangladesh Bar Council took the decision at a meeting yesterday evening.
Chairman of the Enrolment committee Justice Md Nuruzzaman presided over the meeting where its members -- Justice Razik-Al-Jalil, Justice SM Kuddus Zaman, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin and Bar Council's Vice Chairman Muhammad Yusuf Hossain Humayun -- attended, meeting sources said.
Bar Council's Secretary Md Rafiqul Islam issued a notification to this effect.
The notification said the enrolment committee of Bangladesh Bar Council decided at its meeting to take appropriate action against those who created chaos at the exam centres, prevented others from taking the test, burnt their answer scripts and posted provocative content on Facebook and YouTube.
They will not be allowed to take part in next enrolment test, the notification added.
