BSF hands over detained policeman to BGB in Panchagarh
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has handed over a policeman, held from Ghagra border in Panchagarh Sadar upazila, to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
Omar Faruk, 24, a constable at Panchagarh Police Lines, was handed over to the BGB through a flag meeting yesterday, around 22 hours after he was detained on Sunday night.
The flag meeting was held between BSF and BGB members at pillar no. 753 on Ghagra border in Mominpara village around 6:30pm yesterday, our Thakurgaon correspondent reports.
Panchagarh Additional Superintendent of Police Sudarshan Kumar Roy, BGB Ghagra border battalion Company Commander Subedar Nurul Amin, Panchagarh Sadar Police Station Inspector (investigation) Jamal Hossain were present during the meeting.
According to locals, three people, including Omar Faruk locked in an altercation with a group of Indian nationals near the border around 8:30pm on Sunday.
At one stage, the Indians caught the policeman, beat him up and handed him over to the BSF.
